Getting Started
What is BidGig?
BidGig is an online marketplace that connects task posters (people who need work done) with service providers (skilled individuals ready to bid on and complete tasks). Everything from home repairs to graphic design can be posted as a task.
How do I create an account?
Click Sign Up on the homepage. You can register with your email address or sign in with Google. Once registered, you can immediately start posting tasks or browsing tasks to bid on.
Is BidGig available outside of Alberta?
Yes. BidGig is available across Canada. Task posters and service providers from any province can use the platform, though some in-person tasks may be limited by location.
For Task Posters
How do I post a task?
From your dashboard, click Post a Task. Fill in a description, category, location, and your budget. Once published, service providers can view your task and submit bids.
How do I choose the right bid?
Review each bidder's profile, star rating, and past work history before accepting a bid. You can also message service providers through the platform before committing. Accept the bid that best matches your needs and budget.
What happens after I accept a bid?
Once you accept a bid, you'll be prompted to fund the escrow. Your payment is held securely by Stripe and is not released to the service provider until you approve the completed work.
What if the work isn't done properly?
You can request revisions within the agreed scope of work before approving payment. If the issue can't be resolved, you may raise a formal dispute through the platform. BidGig will review evidence from both parties and make a determination on the escrow funds.
For Service Providers
How do I find tasks to bid on?
Browse the task feed from your dashboard or use the search and filter tools to find tasks by category, location, or price. You can also view tasks near you.
How do I get paid?
After your bid is accepted and you complete the task, the task poster reviews your work and approves payment. Funds are then released from escrow to your connected Stripe account. You'll need to set up a Stripe payout account in your profile before you can receive payments.
How long does it take to receive payment?
Once the task poster approves your work, funds are released immediately. Stripe's standard payout timeline applies — typically 2–7 business days depending on your bank and country.
What is the platform fee?
BidGig charges a service fee on completed transactions. The current fee is displayed during the bid and checkout process. You will always see the exact fee before confirming.
Payments & Escrow
How does escrow work?
When a task poster accepts a bid, they deposit the agreed amount into an escrow account managed by Stripe. The service provider knows the funds are secured before starting work, and the task poster knows their money won't be released until they're satisfied. Neither party can access the funds directly — only BidGig can initiate a release.
Is my payment information secure?
Yes. All payment processing is handled by Stripe, Inc., a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment processor. BidGig never stores your full card details on our servers.
Can I get a refund?
Once a task poster approves payment and funds are released to the service provider, the transaction is final. Refunds may be available through the dispute process if the task poster raises a dispute before approving. See our Terms of Service for full details.
Ratings & Disputes
How do ratings work?
After a task is completed, both the task poster and service provider can leave a star rating and written review. Ratings are public and visible on user profiles, helping everyone make informed decisions.
How do I raise a dispute?
If you're unable to resolve an issue directly with the other party, you can raise a formal dispute through the platform before approving payment. Both parties will be asked to submit evidence, and BidGig will review the case and make a determination.
